Lava Vault
The Lava Vault is the core repository for the entire Vault suite of applications.
The Vault is a Windows Server Application which installs within minutes and requires no configuration and little or no administration.
Capacity runs to millions of documents or files, and on the right server is able to service thousands of users.
Note that the document vault resides on your network - the vault and the documents it contains are completely under your control, and are not linked to web servers or browsers, e-mail servers or FTP in any way. The document vault runs on a completely proprietary protocol which has no connection with conventional web services.
Document Storage
Documents and Files are stored in the Lava Vault as operating system files, not as blobs within the database. This allows for storage of millions of files without placing any strain on the database. It also provides significant additional security - merely gaining access to the database does not provide access to the stored documents.
Document Relations and Attributes
Document attributes and relations are stored on the server to assist in searching and retrieving documents, as well as providing access control and access logging facilities.
The Lava Vault uses a Lava Distributed SQL database to store and manage document attributes. This ensures that data is secure, access is rapid, and that backup and restore facilities are efficient and easy to use.
